OneDesignCharter.com is a company
founded by Robert Taylor, and launched at Key West Race Week
in Jan. 2000. He was an early organizer and participant in the
J/105 fleet, the first J/105 National Vice President, original
J/105 Long Island Sound Fleet Secretary, first J/105 National
Class Coordinator, and two-time J/105 North American Champion
in 1998 and 1999. In addition to formerly racing his J/105,
HIJINX, in the northeast regional regattas, he competed in
four past North American Championships around the country, as
well as many BIRW, KWRW, NYYC Rolex and NOOD regattas.
He has arranged for racing yacht owners and crew from around
the USA, Canada, England, Sweden, Italy, Germany, New Zealand,
Japan, and the Caribbean, the organizational and logistical
needs for numerous regattas. These owners’ needs range from
how to get their boat to the regatta, which marina will handle
it best, who transports it, whether they can rent a trailer,
where to accommodate crew, what flights to schedule,
availability of charter boats, availability of spare crew, and
safety and security issues.
From originally being a part-time voluntary exercise for the
J/105 fleet, it has expanded to a needed service for all the
major one-design classes. So this website was conceived to
serve the needs of all one-design owners and those persons
desiring to enter the competitive one-design sailing arena. An
owner or qualified charterer, through

necessary services, so that their racing and regatta
experience will be handled in a professional, safe, insured,
